The history of trampolines can date back to the middle 20th century, which was created by North American Indian. And it is about 200 years for Chinese acrobats to use trampolines in their shows.
Modern trampolines are created by a French acrobat, named Du Trampolin. In the Second World War, American government made use of trampolines to improve the abilities of orientation.
Gone with the time, trampolines developed to be a kind of sport equipment. And it was popular in American Campus and middle schools. In 1947, America held the trampolines competition for the first time in Texas. In 1949, it was endowed as a formal competition and spread into European. In 1964, the second worldwide trampolines tournament was held in United Kingdom. In 2000, Trampoline was listed as a formal competition item in Olympic Games. There are two items for men and women separately, and 12 player for each.
The history of trampoline sport in China is not very long. It was not regarded as a formal item until 1997 by the State Sport General Administration. And the national team was not organized until 2002. But as for the excellent skill in gymnastics, Chinese players become more and more skilled in this field, and won many medals in various competitions.
The trampolines used in sport competition are about 5.05m’s length, 2.91m’s width, and 1.15m’s height with 112 springs. The athlete must finish the acts which are ordered to be acted and other acts that he chooses by himself. The whole show concludes 3 sets of acts, the first is that ordered, the second and the third are chosen by himself.
